Introducing Elite Helper Academy: Expert Childcare Training for Domestic Helpers in Hong Kong and other Caregivers in Expat Families.

Ask any parent in Hong Kong about the people who help their family thrive, and the conversation will almost always turn to their domestic helper. She is part of the daily rhythm of family life – helping with the morning routine before school, preparing a favourite lunch, being there for the after-nap cuddle, and knowing without being told which teddy has to come along on the walk.

Alongside parents, she plays a meaningful part in a child’s day. She reinforces the routines you’ve established, upholds the values you’re teaching, and knows your child’s quirks and comforts almost as well as you do. In many Hong Kong households, she is one of the most trusted and valued members of the team.

And yet, for all the importance of that role, formal training in childcare and early childhood development has always been surprisingly hard for helpers to access.

That’s the gap we’ve spent years preparing to fill. Today, we’re delighted to officially introduce Elite Helper Academy – Hong Kong’s dedicated childcare training academy for domestic helpers.

What Is Elite Helper Academy?

Elite Helper Academy is a specialist training platform created to empower domestic helpers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support young children’s development through play-based learning – always in partnership with the families they work for.

We are an extension of Elite Childcare Consulting, founded by Kim, an early childhood development consultant with over 20 years of experience living and working with families in Hong Kong. Across those two decades of working closely in private homes, one thing became increasingly clear: helpers were doing wonderful, dedicated work with the children in their care, but with very little formal training to guide them.

So we decided to change that.

What We Offer at Elite Helper Academy

Elite Helper Academy is built around three core pillars of learning:

Small Group Workshops Our hands-on, interactive workshops bring domestic helpers together in small, friendly groups to explore key topics in childcare and early childhood development. From sensory play for babies to arts and crafts for toddlers, our sessions are practical, energising, and immediately applicable to daily caregiving life. Every attendee leaves with a Certificate of Attendance – and a bag full of ideas.

Current workshops include:

  • Sensory Play for Babies (0 – 12 months)
  • Let’s Make Sensory Bottles! (0 – 18 months)
  • Printing and Stamping (18 months – 4 years)
  • Simple Arts and Crafts for Young Children (18 months – 5 years)
  • Growing Things! (2 – 6 years)
  • And more being added all the time…

Online Self-Paced Courses (Coming Soon!) We know that schedules are demanding, and not every helper can attend an in-person session. Our online courses are designed to fit around a busy caregiving day – accessible from any device, self-paced, and awarded with a Certificate of Completion or Attendance.

Bespoke Private Training For families who want a truly personalised experience, our in-home (or virtual if, preferred) training sessions bring the academy directly to your door. Tailored entirely to your child’s needs, your family’s approach, and your helper’s learning goals, these private sessions are one of the most impactful investments a family can make in their child’s early learning years.

Why Early Childhood Development Matters So Much

The science is clear: the first three years of a child’s life are the most pivotal and vulnerable critical period for brain development – through to 8 years of age. During this time, the brain is forming at an extraordinary rate – building millions of neural connections every single second.

The experiences a child has in these early years – the play, the conversations, the sensory explorations, the relationships – directly shape the architecture of their developing brain. Simple activities like stacking blocks, exploring textures, singing songs, or looking at picture books are not just entertainment. They are the building blocks of cognitive ability, language development, emotional intelligence, and social connection.

When everyone caring for a child understands this – parents and helpers together – the whole environment shifts. Play becomes intentional. Everyday routines become learning moments. And the child benefits from consistency, whoever they happen to be with.

That is what Elite Helper Academy is here to create.

For Helpers: Elite Helper Academy Was Built for You

If you are a domestic helper in Hong Kong who cares for young children, this is your space to learn, grow, and be recognised for the valuable work you do.

You don’t need any previous qualifications to join our workshops. All of our training is delivered in English, in a warm and welcoming environment where every question is a good question.

When you complete a workshop or course, you will:

  • Earn a professional Certificate of Attendance or Completion
  • Have a workshop report sent to your employer outlining what you learned
  • Walk away with activity ideas you can use from day one
  • Be part of a growing community of helpers who are proud of their skills

For Parents: Strengthen the Team Around Your Child

You set the tone in your home. You decide the values, the routines, and the approach that’s right for your family. Elite Helper Academy simply helps make sure that everyone caring for your child is equipped to follow your lead with skill and confidence.

When your helper understands why tummy time matters, how to extend a simple activity as your child grows, or what a two-year-old’s behaviour is actually communicating, the care your child receives becomes more consistent, more purposeful, and more closely aligned with what you want for them.

Training your helper isn’t about handing over responsibility. It’s about strengthening the team around your child – with you at the centre of it.

Let’s Build Something Wonderful Together

The launch of Elite Helper Academy is just the beginning. In the months ahead, we’ll be rolling out new workshops, launching our online course platform, expanding our free resource library, and continuing to grow a community of caregivers who are as passionate about children’s learning as we are.
